Description: Retail Store Area Supervisor
SUMMARY:
Directs and coordinates activities involved in operating
the retail store in an assigned area by performing the
following duties personally or through subordinate. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Directs compliance of workers with established company
policies, procedures and standards such as safekeeping
of company funds and property, personnel and grievance
practices, and adherence to policies governing acceptance
and processing of costumer credit card charges.
Inspects
premises of assigned area stores to ensure that adequate
security exists and that physical facilities comply with
safety and environmental codes and ordinances.
Coordinates sales and promotional activities of store
manager.
Makes sure the all-sales personnel stay customer focused
and promotes this focus through motivation of the sales
staff.
Other duties may be assigned.
In
general the supervisor helps to coordinate all the tasks
in order to achieve maximum productivity.
The Supervisors' job is to get most done through his group.
He/She is the group's leader, coach, communicator and
team builder. Besides this he/she being a hands-on Supervisor,
is also a performer him/herself.
The Supervisor is part of management and therefore has
wider responsibilities. Most importantly, the supervisor
manages the task of selling in order to try to ensure
return on the firm's invested capital.
Makes sure that the store is properly stocked.
The supervisor will participate in and should support
company policies and programs with his/her clerks:
The supervisor should share as much information as possible
(from books, other people, top management or the other
clerks):
- To
help the clerks in their selling skills of the different
products.
- To
help the clerks with decorating, rearranging and displaying
skills.
- To
help the clerks with their own personal progress.
Daily
tasks of cleaning, rearranging, decorating, changes, pricing
or some other work within the store should be planned
by the supervisor when the clerks are not busy attending
customers.
The
supervisor should then also review the progress of each
person.
Supervises
sales clerks, perform work of subordinates as needed and
assists in completing difficult sales.
